Doghouse Band band was founded ten years ago. The band has performed for many years as the house band of the Kulmilla Tuulee club night organized in Helsinki. Many top Finnish musicians have
attended at their club gigs. Doghouse are known on the scene as musicians, and their gigs never disappoint.

Since the release of the debut album, the band's sound has been enriched by two new members, Dile Kolanen (bass) and Mikael Backman (keyboards). Dile first worked with Doghouse lead guitarist
Puka Oinonen in the celebrated Helsinki band The Nights of the Iguana back in the 80’s, and now the two have rekindled their previously inspired collaboration with this excellent new album.

Doghouse Band spent the break caused by the pandemic rehearsing and in the studio. From the constant rehearsing a new tranche of songs evolved and those are now released in their second album. Working title of the album was “Blues Album” but this is not a traditional blues record, rather blues tropes filtered and bent through the band’s own unique vision and style.

The album's compositions are written by Puka Oinonen (music) and the wonderfully named Graveyard Virtanen (lyrics), but Pugilism Illustrated is very much a classic band record, with all the members combining to hone the strongest combinations of the best possible parts, and rehearsing the shape of the songs together for several months before going into the studio to nail them.

“Fairytale Forest Jack” was the first single released from the album, and it was received well getting spins from several global radio stations. The release show was held in London’s legendary Hope and Anchor venue.
